Bach Piano Music

The Enigmas Of Pianissimo Music by Kevin Costy
Have you ever wanted to learn piano, but never knew where to start or didn’t know how to find the right piano teacher or the Piano Lessons that you need it? Or perhaps you want to find the perfect piano teacher for your child? Well, you’ve come to the right place! I would love to open up the beautiful world of piano to you or your child. There is much agitation when comesthe time to play the piano and if you have a kid, you may want to read below and see how piano lessons can help him/her succeed in other aspects of life…
The Most Important Reasons For Taking Piano Lessons:
1. Piano lessons instill discipline in every child.
Just like regular homework from school, piano students must practice every day whether it’s 15 minutes, half an hour, or one hour. Practicing every day not only improves your child’s piano skills but helps him/her develop discipline that will last a lifetime.
2. Piano lessons increase your child’s dexterity.
Playing the piano requires both hands to work independently. The right hand may play a smooth line of melody at a faster rate while the left hand may play the same melody at a slower rate. Different hand coordination helps to develop your child’s overall dexterity and thought process.
3. Piano lessons increase your child’s self-esteem.
Mastering a song at the piano is slow work and it requires dedication. When your child performs a song at a school talent show in front of a lot of persons, there is a great sense of accomplishment and fulfillment, which serve to increase their self-esteem.
4. Piano lessons develop concentration skills!
Whether your child is a beginner, an intermediate, or an advanced piano student, he/she will have to hold many concepts at once when playing or practicing the piano. Looking at the notes, analyzing the rhythm, and translating this interpretation into hand movements which play different lines of passage all build within the student a great deal of focus.
5. Piano lessons in general make your child a more knowledgeable and well-rounded person.
Children learn about great composers in music history, such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms. They are exposed to Classical music at an early age, and as they grow, their appreciation develops to include other performing art forms, such as opera, symphony or ballet.
Pianos have always been attractive to people who like beauty and romance. They have been appealing to classical tastes as well. Producing haunting, cheerful and beautiful music, the piano can never be forgotten. That is why so many people own them in their home and why even more wish they had one of their very own to sit at and play. There are not many things as relaxing as sitting down at your piano after a long hard days work.

Piano Music by J. S. Bach $19.98 In the liner notes to this two-disc collection of Bach keyboard works, pianist William Corbett-Jones makes reference to the fact that many of the pieces were written for clavichord or harpsichord and intended for intimate performances in small rooms. Yet the sound quality produced on this recording is not indicative of that assertion. While Corbett-Jones performs on a modern piano and not one of its aforementioned predecessors, it should still be possible to achieve the same intimacy of sound. Instead, there is a hefty amount of reverberation that gives the listener the impression of being in a large concert hall rather than a small venue. Apart from issues of sound quality, Corbett-Jones’s performance is quite enjoyable as his selection of works encompassing original keyboard works and transcriptions. His pacing is refined and dignified and — except for times when reverb dulls articulation — his touch is quite graceful; voicing and balance in the chorales is clear and well-executed. Though this CD is unlikely to replace a recording by Schiff or Gould, this album could still serve as an acceptable introduction to Bach’s keyboard works on a modern instrument, though listeners may prefer to skip right to an alternative with superior sound quality. ~ Mike D. Brownell, Rovi Performers: William Corbett-Jones – Piano |

Bach & Sons: Piano Concertos $16.12 Don’t be deceived by the presence of historical-instrument specialist Roger Norrington as conductor on this Berlin Classics release: as the “piano concertos” title implies, the music here is played on a modern grand, with the modern-instrument Zurich Chamber Orchestra in support and not a harpsichord in sight. As such, the performances are above average among the various albums on offer pairing J.S. Bach’s works with those of his sons, with light string textures and plenty of shape to the melodic lines. Sebastian Knauer’s piano is better suited to the concertos by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and especially Johann Christian Bach heard here than to the works by the elder Bach, which either have to be made into modern-piano interpretations or require the piano to shut off part of its personality. The best find here is the Keyboard Concerto in E flat major of Johann Christian, the “London Bach,” whose works Mozart heard arranged as a child. A performance of a major work like this one is enough to remind you of how much Mozart learned: his music sounds completely different from that of C.P.E. and a great deal like that of the young Mozart in its sunny, placid mood and its way of constructing highly lyrical moments from junctures of harmonic stasis. The beautiful C minor slow movement could pass for Mozart, and Knauer delivers a fine, controlled but not unemotional performance. The Keyboard Concerto in E major, Wq 14, of C.P.E. Bach is one that has been heard on a number of recent recordings; its central slow movement has the jagged dramatic quality of some of C.P.E.’s solo piano music, but the outer movements are breezy and a bit Vivaldian. To hear the music of Bach’s sons is a good way of getting a grip on how musical style changed in the middle of the 18th century, and for those who like the sound of a modern piano in music of the period this is a reasonable pick. ~ James Manheim, Rovi Performers: Sebastian Knauer – Piano, Violin Cadenza |

C.P.E. Bach: Piano Concertos $16.12 German pianist Michael Rische makes no bones about his aims with this release. “The works of one of the great composers still lie in half-shadow,” he writes, “but the time has come to shed more light on them.” C.P.E. Bach wrote no fewer than 53 keyboard concertos, including one fascinating-sounding number for piano, harpsichord, and orchestra that someone ought to revive. Rische brings out three substantial works, underscoring his belief that they belong in the repertory by performing them on a modern piano. He gets strong support for this move from the middle movement of the Keyboard Concerto in C major, Wq 112/1, a concerto for keyboard solo (like J.S. Bach’s Italian Concerto in F major, BWV 971) adapted from an earlier keyboard and orchestra work. Although there is no clear evidence that pianos were widespread in northern Germany when this work was composed in 1765, the movement contains no fewer than 109 dynamic markings, including some passages in which the two hands each get different ones. Rische concludes that the composer “was thinking way ahead of his instrument,” although it’s possible that such an adaptation was written for the clavichord. The slow movements of the two earlier concertos don’t work quite as well on the piano, but they certainly live up to Rische’s claims. The first movement of the Keyboard Concerto in D minor, Wq 23, is remarkable for a work composed in 1748; it has a full, varied orchestra-and-keyboard exposition that comes very close to sonata form, with a development section that’s longer than the exposition. The Keyboard Concerto in C minor, Wq 31 (from 1753), is closer to the quirky C.P.E. Bach of the keyboard sonatas, and it, too, is consistently absorbing. Rische receives fine support here from the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra under Morton Schuldt-Jensen, with the balances always sensitive in what was surely unfamiliar music for most of the musicians. They get the usual top-notch engineering from the Hänssler team. ~ James Manheim, Rovi Performers: Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach – Violin Cadenza; Michael Rische – Violin Cadenza, Piano |
